Do you do a regular check-in with yourself? Do you know why you should?
Checking in routinely with yourself has great benefits for you. Not only does it allow you to be more aware of ups and downs whether emotional or professional, it also helps you de-stress and become more energised and efficient. Mindfulness is a great way to increase positivity!
How do you do this?
On a regular basis take the time to ask yourself how you feel – just check in with yourself for a few minutes each day.
You will be surprised how cultivating this habit of 3-5 minutes per day to assess how you feel physically and emotionally and noting what you are thinking about most, can let you make small adjustments and be aware of potential issues and stresses before they become difficult to manage.
Knowing how you feel does wonders for your sense of wellbeing, your peace of mind and your focus.
Optimising your well-being starts with self-discovery.
As the body is such a strong barometer for the mind and ability to do things well and efficiently, you can start by asking yourself how your body feels.
- Does it feel good and energetic in general?
- Do you sleep well and feel fresh and interested with what’s going on around you?
- Are you full of ideas and creativity?
Think about that new challenge or project you need to complete at work and where you really want to shine, if the body feels good, the mind will follow.
Knowing how you feel and being able to correct as soon as you feel things going in a negative direction helps maintain positivity, focus and energy…
Depending on your goals you can also add weekly and monthly check ins to see how your overall progress and mental positivity and energy is improving.
You can add broader questions about whether you enjoy your professional life, if you find your work fulfilling, is this better than how you felt last week or month…
Develop the habit of being aware of how you feel about everything in your life, don’t be a zombie.
Being aware and mindful about everything we do, cultivating dynamism and active choice in our thoughts and actions helps reduce stress and tiredness and generates positivity, energy and enjoyment of what is around us.
This is a win-win on both the personal and professional level!
