Review by Ceri Wheeldon

When it comes to caring for mature skin in winter, I always think skin needs an extra boost to combat the drying effect of central heating indoors, and the chilly weather outdoors.
I assumed the Scandinavians would know a thing or two about skincare during cold weather and so decided to try the Moisturising Body Lotion, Nourishing Hand Creme and Lip Balm from True North.
TRUE NORTH Moisturising Body Lotion
TRUE NORTH Moisturising Body Lotion comes in a pump action bottle. A little goes a long way. It is easily absorbed into the skin, and skin instantly feels softer – and soothed. It is hard to describe the scent – it is very subtle and ‘fresh’ – which I prefer as it doesn’t compete with my perfume. After a few days my skin definitely looked and felt smoother. The lotion is extremely hydrating. I swim a lot in chlorinated water so I find extremely drying, so my skin needs something that works hard to combat this. The lotion is easily absorbed and leaves a very soft sheen to the skin.
The main active ingredients are aloe vera and vitamin E., this lotion also contains emollient shea butter, almond oil and olive oils. It costs £25 for 200ml.
TRUE NORTH Nourishing Hand Crème
TRUE NORTH Nourishing Hand Crème is extremely moisturising and nourishing . again it is enriched with aloe vera and vitamin E. This formula also contains nourishing shea butter and almond oil but is a denser consistency than the body lotion and again leaves a soft sheen. I am always conscious that although we may spend a lot of time applying skincare products to our faces, hands can get left behind – think how often do we see close ups of Madonna’s hand in the press , usually accompanied by some fairly unflattering comments! True North Nourishing Hand Creme costs £15 for 75ml. again a little goes a long way. I’m really pleased with the effect it has on moisturising and plumping the skin.
TRUE NORTH’s Protective Lip Balm
TRUE NORTH’s Protective Lip Balm with an SPF factor of 50 gives immediate relief for cracked lips. I always use products with sunscreen for my face all year round, but have to admit to not giving too much thought to sun protection for my lips . This lip balm contains argan oil , shea butter, and vitamins A and E to encourage healthy cell renewal. It is very hydrating and non greasy. It feels more concentrated than other lip balms I have used. The True North Lip Balm costs £10 and I feel based on my own experience, it is well worth it.
The founder of True North, Jan R. Behrens, says they have tested their skincare products on more than 100,000 Scandinavian women.
I think the range is extremely effective for a mid- priced product and will definitely recommend to friends.
The range is currently available in Harvey Nicholls.
