Jean shows us in dramatic style that it is never too late to move out of your comfort zone and take on a challenge, as she wing walks for charity at the age of 81!
Jean has been named as one of the top 10 quirkiest fundraisers for the British Heart Foundation (BHF) as part of the charity’s new Raise Funds Your Way campaign to help fund life saving research.
Thrill-seeking Jean Humphreys, 81, has been chosen as one of the charity’s quirkiest fundraisers after taking to the skies for the BHF. Jean carried out the death-defying wing walk after tragically losing her husband Brian to heart failure in 2011 following a stroke.
The daredevil challenge, which saw Jean standing atop a plane as it reached speeds of 90mph, raised over £2,000 for the BHF.
Jean said: “It was incredibly windy, but it was such an amazing experience. It’s great to do something really out of the ordinary for such a good cause.
“It’s wonderful to think that in five or ten years’ time someone could be saved because of the money I’ve raised for the BHF’s life saving research.”
Around 883,000 people across the South East – and 7 million people UK-wide – are fighting a daily battle with cardiovascular disease.
The BHF urgently needs more people across the South East to organise their own unique fundraising events to help transform the lives of people living with these devastating conditions.
