Smiling casual mature woman using laptop at home

Have the children left home, or have you just taken retirement and suddenly find yourself with time on your hands , finding yourself with the unfamiliar title of ‘housewife’? Turn this time into an opportunity to grow. Enjoy it. Far from stagnating, with  fewer commitments outside of the home, there are so many opportunities for self-development, when there’s more  spare time, what’s stopping you from pursuing all those things that you never quite found the time to do?

Possibilities for personal growth

There are many opportunities to develop interests when based from home.  There are countless possibilities, and modern technology opens so many more doors for potential growth.

Chance to earn at home

If you choose not to work outside the home, you can always allocate some  spare time working from home. With just a laptop and the internet you can generate a part time income, become an online reviewer, become a virtual assistant. Whiz at social media? Manage social media accounts for small businesses,  study UK Casinority guide, try your  hand at online gaming, have a second language? Then offer  translation services.

Study

It’s never too late to learn. Opportunities for continuous development and personal growth are everywhere.  It is easier than ever to learn a second language, and connect with others via meetup groups found online to practice your new found skills.  Take a dressmaking course to upcycle some of those old favourites at the back of the wardrobe  that are somehow not quite right, or maybe do yoga, eastern practices and engage in spiritual development?  Not sure if you want to commit to a full course? Start out by searching for youtube tutorials or online courses that you can follow at your own pace.

Communication

Join local networking groups for regular get togethers and to meet new people. Connect with others via social media – look for local community groups on facebook, or Meetup.  Want to share opinions on something you’re watching on TV..then see if there is a twitter hashtag  (#) and join in the conversation.

Hobbies

Set aside a space in the house just for you where you can permanently set up that sewing machine, or keep all those notes for that book you are going to write, or keep all those bits and pieces for the home made cards you make.  ‘Me’ space and time is so important.

Enjoying life

Don’t let life pass you by. Take the opportunity of being based at home to develop new interests, increase your social circle, spend more time with friends and family that really matter. Write that best seller, turn a hobby into a business, volunteer, create the garden you’ve always wanted.
