I have been aware of the anti-inflammatory properties of turmeric for  quite some time…and cook with it frequently….I have several  ruined tops with yellow splashes to prove it!! However, as much as I enjoy the recipes with turmeric, you need to eat an awful lot of it for it have any real benefit as the body absorbs so little of it.

The benefits of Turmeric are said to be:

Act as anti-flammatory

Increase anti-oxidant capacity

Boost brain power

Lower risk of heart disease

Help arthritis

When I was asked if I would like to try a turmeric supplement it seemed an obvious next step for me – my body and my wardrobe would both be grateful.  The extract in the FutureYou Turmeric  + tablets I am taking is 30x more absorbable than turmeric in its natural form. It is sold as an extract to support healthy joints and muscles – to put it to the test I decided to up my activity levels to 6 swimming sessions a week, and , diary permitting, try to do my 10,000 steps per day.  I have travel plans so the swimming may prove difficult on some days…but some of the walks to departure gates at airports might help me hit my 10,000 step target!

Fenella,  a yoga instructor had this to say about her experience with Turmeric +

Fenella, aged 51, from London runs her own yoga business. After suffering from a “nagging knee”; Fenella came across turmeric as a possible solution to her discomfort.

“My practice and style of yoga is quite physically demanding and I demonstrate a lot of positions as well as hopping up and down to adjust my students during classes! In addition to yoga I play tennis, run regularly, play football and do a circuit training class. I don’t really intend to do as much exercise as I do, but I enjoy it, particularly all the different people it involves.”

Fenella’s research led her to Turmeric+, a supplement developed by the Cambridge-based brand, FutureYou.

Fenella said, “I decided to trial Turmeric+ and was enthusiastic to give it a go and it’s been so worthwhile. Not only has the stiffness and recovery after high impact sport been noticeably better, but also my knee injury has greatly improved, as has my overall flexibility.”

Turmeric and Psoriasis

What is interesting is that I have a small patch of psoriasis on my knuckle, and after a week of taking the Turmeric + supplement it has almost completely disappeared. This is something I wasn’t expecting. and it is not commonly listed as one of the benefits of turmeric, so I googled Psoriasis and turmeric and in fact it seems that there have been quite a few studies – and turmeric has proven to be very effective in treating psoriasis – so this is definitely an unexpected bonus for me.

It is soon to say how much impact Turmeric + is having  on my joints and flexibility…yet…but I shall keep you posted as I shall write an update after taking the supplement for a month.

If you would like to try the supplement for yourself, Future You are offering Fab after Fifty readers a 20% discount. The Discount code is FAB50. Click here
